The windy kickers seem to do poor later on in the season, but a guy like Myers has been very consistent. The difference between the #1 kicker and the #12 kicker week-to-week is unremarkable and it just takes unecessary effort managing the position. Kicker scoring is just so hit or miss that the projections, even subvertadowns, are not reliable week to week. Rules have changed slightly (can't line up over center, can't use another player as leverage for a jump) and strategies have changed (coaches may now opt to go for a longer field goal where they may have punted in the past), but for the most part, kickers and punters are just better these days.
